Every Day Life at Julie’s Jazz

Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14

My sister-in-law carved pumpkins with the kids last week.  She’s brave and ambitious!  The resulting jack-o-lanterns were super cute!Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-2

Ben went deer hunting last Friday. He got a nice four-point buck.

These were taken on Saturday.  It was too late Friday to pack the animal out so I hiked in with him on Saturday to help him get it out.Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-5

He said we’d be home by noon.  I don’t know if you can see it but it is early dusk in these photos. They were taken when we finally made it back to the truck.Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-6

It was a nice hike though.  Ben did most of the work.  He hauled it on his back for most of the way.Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-7

This was on Friday right after he got it.  He’s an excellent shot! It was a beautiful animal!

This is early Saturday morning. I was full of energy and optimism at this point.  Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-9

I was excited for a nice hike and I showed that excitement by taking feet and head selfies.Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-10

The bridge was missing so we had to cross a little creek.Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-11

Ben brought rubber galoshes so we could get across without soaking our boots.Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-12

The country was so beautiful it almost made up for the fact that we didn’t get home until after 10 pm.Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-13

Taking a break on the steep mountain!Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-14

I’m not sure walking across slippery shale is recommended when you’re packing 125 lbs. of deer on your back.  At this point I was wondering if he brought me in case he fell down and broke something. Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-15

The trek back down was super steep!  Like, sliding down on your butt steep!Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-16

I stopped feeling sorry for myself after Ben put the deer on his back.  I was following him thinking about how hard it would be to carry something that heavy over such awkward ground.  I did find it somewhat comforting to think that Ben could carry me off the mountain if I got hurt.  Too bad all I could do is make a phone call for him if he fell down.  Not much comfort there for Ben.Everyday Life at Julie's Jazz-10-6-14 thru 10-12-14-17

Looking back from the truck at the hill we maneuvered down.

Marveling at this huge hunting camp glad we were going home to our own soft bed!

All these photos were shot between 10-6-14 and 10-12-14.

This is too cool. The scenery is gorgeous. Ben is a true mountain man and natural born hunter. 10,000 years ago you would peek out of your cave to see Ben packing a Mammoth back to feed his family for a year. Good stuff.
