Homemade Crepes

crepes

This is the seventh post in my new series where I try out another food blogger’s recipe without using any alterations (I take my own photos of the food I make from their recipes).  It’s also my way of sharing my favorite food blogs.

Crepes-3
I’ve wanted to try a number of Julia’s (from her food blog: Julia’s Album) recipes for a very long time. And it’s funny because the recipe I finally decided to try first is probably one of her most simple. But, her tutorial made crepes seem so easy to make.

Crepes-2

This was only my second attempt ever at crepes.  My first attempt ended with a pile of thin gummy pancake like blobs. I felt like I was missing some minor details that would make all the difference. And I was correct.

In her basic crepe post Julia explains the simple process, step by step, through photos and instructions. You can’t mess them up!
Julia has at least eight different crepe recipes on her blog and they all begin with her basic crepe recipe.

For my crepes I followed her recipe word for word. When I had a decent sized stack of perfectly fluffy crepes with thin crisp edges I put out an array of toppings/fillings including Nutella, cookie butter, honey, and maple syrup. I let my family fill their own crepes with whatever they liked. It was like our own personal little crepe bar!
Now I’m so excited about crepes that I want to try building a crepe cake!

I can only hope that my photos do Julia’s crepes justice.  When you go to Julia’s site to get the recipe for these crepes you will find some of the most stunning food photography on the internet.  Prepare yourself!  You may not want to go there hungry!

  1. Julie, thank you for trying my recipe – and your crepes look fantastic! I am so glad that the recipe worked for you, and your photos are mouthwatering. I haven’t made crepes in a long time, but you’re reminding me with this post that I should!
