Hot and Spicy Italian Drip Beef Sandwiches

I’m still trying to figure out if joining Facebook was a good idea.  It seems like every time I open the app. on my phone I have to wade through a ton of stuff that doesn’t interest me.  I might see one story a day that peaks my curiosity.  Sometimes I’ll open up Facebook and twenty minutes later I realize I’ve wasted twenty minutes of my life that I’ll never get back again.

I guess it’s a lot like life.  Most of it is not very exciting or interesting but the highlights and stimulating moments make it all worthwhile. I also have to keep in mind that people probably feel the same way about my Facebook posts as I do about theirs.  Other people are like, “Ugh, another sugary food post! Maybe I should just block her!”  It’s difficult but I have to remind myself that other people are not as obsessed with food as I am. I also can’t say that I’m not interested in seeing what other people like.

My favorite things to see on Facebook are candid photos of people and their families.  I also like personal success stories of weight loss and fitness.  I like to see photos of food and recipes healthy and naughty.  I like to see what other people do and how they live. And every so often someone will post something provocative that will really spin me up!  I suppose I’ll keep wading around in the muddy Facebook waters hoping stub my toes on fascinating objects of interest.  I also need to remind myself that sometimes it can be pretty entertaining.

One of my little projects/goals this year was to try out other blogger’s recipes. We all collect hundreds, if not, thousands of recipes in various places in the internet like: Pinterest, Ziplist, and Foodgawker.  Most of the time these recipes are just stored electronically and never used.  My goal this year was to try one per week.  I wanted to make each of these recipes exactly as they were intended, without changing a thing (if possible).  I know how much love and work goes into these recipes and their associated posts.  I may have bitten off more than I could chew but I’m still trying.  It’s turning out to be about twice a month rather than once a week.  I’m going to just keep moving forward and get done what I can.

This recipe comes from Ree Drummond at “The Pioneer Woman.”  By now I think we all know who I’m talking about.  I’ve been following her blog since I began blogging and have picked up a ton of food and photography tips from her site.  She is beyond generous with her knowledge.

Ree probably has hundreds of her own recipes on her site and in her cookbooks.  I honestly don’t know how I cam to the decision to try her “Hot and Spicy Italian Drip Beef Sandwiches” for my project.  I think it was the peperocinis.  I’ve always loved their flavor but have never seen them in a braising liquid.  This braised meat was probably the most flavorful I’ve ever had!  I couldn’t stop eating it!  I had three sandwiches!  I gave up my dessert for the third!

I don’t know if this is why she called them drip beef but I was totally fine with it.  The cooking juice is spicy but it is so wonderful you want to soak your bread in it! The broth was just beautiful! I promise you will not be disappointed with this beef. In fact, I’m guessing you’ll fall in love with this recipe.  Ree has a couple of different versions of this beef on her website including a version that isn’t so spicy.  Hot and Spicy Italian Drip Beef Sandwiches-10
