A Reason to Work At It

Some days (a lot of days) I wake up and wonder, “Why should I eat healthy?” “Why do I care how I look?” “Why should I run?”

Saying I want to lose weight so that I can be healthy for my kids and live a long time “for them” is nice. And it is true. But sometimes (a lot of times) I need more than that reason. To lose weight and keep it off, until I die, I need a lot of reasons.  Some days I need A LOT of reasons not to eat a half a jar of Nutella, or peanut butter, or cookie butter.

Last year I made fitness goals. But, I also made a goal to look good, and lose weight, for my family reunion and bikini run. So I have decided that this year I need a “look good” goal along with my fitness goals.

Ben’s 20 year high school reunion is this summer.  We went to the same high school (he did not remember me from HS when we met in a college class a few years later).  So this is a perfectly cliche opportunity for me to set a “look good” goal.

Last summer my goal was 125 lbs.  That is actually this summer’s weight goal as well.  I don’t have far to go this time so I am not as worried about getting to the actual number.  But, I have to add to this goal in some way.  So my goal this year is to get to 125 lbs. But, this year, I want look better at 125 lbs. than I did last year.

To do this I have to strength train.  In the next couple of weeks I will lay out and begin my strength training plan.  I will let you all in on it very soon!
