Teenage Chickens "Update"

The chickens are coming along nicely.  Not that we are going to eat them but we will eat their eggs, hopefully in the fall.  Ben found out that we can, in fact, own 6 chickens in the city limits.  So we went out and purchase three more.  They are Rhode-Island Reds like Genie.  I do not have any photos of them yet.
This was the chickens first day to go outside.  I want to say that I think they really loved it, but I have decided that chickens probably really don’t have feelings (at least not like a cat or a dog).
I thought that I would feel about them, like I felt about “Maxine” my dad’s former cockatiel.  But they are personality-less.  Well I should not say that.  They are mean and less-mean. But they are pretty.  I can totally see how people can raise, and then kill them for food.  I do not think that I would have a hard time eating them if I had to, if that is what we were intending them for.  Next time I will get some pictures of the other chickens and the beautiful coop that my dad built for us.  My dad is an amazing craftsman!  Here is a link to my previous chicken post so that you can see how much they have grown. Our new chickens look similar to the photos of Genie as a chick.  I believe these chickens are actuall considered to be “pullets” now.
